Add up the yearly value of the package: 12 months of basic salary and allowances, the end of service gratuity and yearly benefits such as flights, medical insurance and bonus. Add your own costs as a contractor, divide by the days you will actually bill, then multiply by 21.75 working days to get a monthly rate. The calculator above does exactly that.
Why 21.75 days a month?
With a five day week there are about 261 working days in a year, or 21.75 a month on average. It is the usual way to compare a monthly rate with a day rate.
What is a package of 25,000 a month worth as a contract rate?
With a basic salary of 15,000 and 10,000 of allowances, 21 days of gratuity a year, 15,000 of yearly benefits, 30 unpaid days off and 5,000 of your own costs, the equivalent contract rate is about 31,100 a month. A contract offer below that is worth less than the job, once you take leave and benefits into account.
